Boston Dynamics said on October 6, 2026 that Rohit Prasad will become its chief executive, effective October 7, 2026, according to a company press release.
Prasad comes from Amazon, where he spent 12 years and most recently oversaw the company's Alexa voice assistant and artificial general intelligence work as a senior executive and head scientist. He helped build Alexa from the start into a service used in hundreds of millions of homes and later directed work on the Nova family of foundation models sold to business customers. Before Amazon, he worked for close to 14 years at Raytheon BBN Technologies on machine-learning research for government and commercial customers.
The company said Prasad is also expected to join its board, subject to approval. Boston Dynamics, which is controlled by Hyundai Motor Group, said the hire is meant to speed up commercialization of what it calls physical AI — robotics systems combined with advanced AI software for industrial and commercial sites.
Jaehoon Chang, vice chair of Hyundai Motor Group and chair of the Boston Dynamics board, said the combination of the robot maker's engineering, Prasad's record of shipping AI products and Hyundai's manufacturing and logistics operations gives the company "a powerful foundation."
Boston Dynamics sells the Spot quadruped for industrial inspection and the Stretch box-handling robot, and is developing the electric humanoid Atlas. Prasad has lived in the Boston area for more than 25 years.
