Valvoline Inc. said on October 13, 2026 that it has completed a decade as a publicly traded company and four decades in automotive retail service, according to a statement distributed by Business Wire.
The Lexington, Kentucky, company, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker VVV, said its network now exceeds 2,500 franchised and company-run service centers in the United States and Canada, up from roughly 1,000 at the time of its initial public offering. It is targeting more than 3,500 locations systemwide.
Valvoline traced the start of its retail operation to a 1986 deal for 42 Rapid Oil Change outlets in Minneapolis, later rebranded as Valvoline Instant Oil Change. The company said it employs more than 13,500 people and that about 95% of its service center managers began as entry-level technicians. Systemwide, it performs more than 30 million services a year.
"That promise remains," Lori Flees, president and chief executive of Valvoline, said of the company's original pitch to drivers.
Valvoline also said it committed $750,000 earlier in 2026 to a partnership with Ronald McDonald House Global focused on mental health.
