Causa Prima, a Delaware-registered startup building software that lets corporate AI agents settle invoices with one another, said on October 13, 2026 that it had raised $20 million in a seed round completed in September 2026, Fortune reported.

Base10 Partners led the financing, joined by QED Investors, FJ Labs and returning backers Creandum, Kfund and Borusan Ventures. The company, which earlier raised $10 million in a pre-seed round, has now collected $30 million in total. It would not disclose its valuation.

The platform is designed to let one company's accounts payable agent negotiate directly with a supplier's accounts receivable agent, resolving billing disputes and shortening payment times. Causa Prima earns a fee when its agents arrange an early payment.

"The status quo today is that a lot of things are still somewhat manual," cofounder Maex Ament told Fortune. Ament founded supply chain finance company Taulia in 2009 and later started Centrifuge. He started Causa Prima in 2026 with Henrik Gebbing, a cofounder of Finoa, and Philip Stanislaus, who is chief technology officer.

The company employs 25 people in Madrid and Munich and will use the money to open a New York office as it moves into the United States. Business-to-business payments run to about $98 trillion a year, according to Fortune Business Insights.
