Anthropic's filing to go public on the Nasdaq drove gains in artificial intelligence and chip shares on October 26, 2026, lifting all three major U.S. stock benchmarks, TradingView reported.
The Nasdaq Composite finished 0.82% higher, the S&P 500 added 0.70% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28%. Semiconductor funds outpaced the broader market: the iShares Semiconductor ETF closed up close to 3%, the VanEck Semiconductor ETF rose 2.7% and the leveraged Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares advanced more than 8%. Stock index futures edged higher in overnight trading.
"It will be interesting to see how well things are received when they actually come to list," JP Powers, chief investment officer at RWA Wealth Partners, told Reuters, cautioning that the week's remaining results could cut against the day's optimism.
Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon.com are due to report earnings during the week, along with Visa, Boeing, Coca-Cola, SoFi Technologies and Robinhood Markets. The Federal Reserve's policy meeting was set to open on October 27, with investors expecting no change in rates. Richard Clarida, a global economic adviser at PIMCO and a former Fed vice chair, told CNBC he anticipates a hold in October and at least one increase in December.
Brent crude traded at $114.71 a barrel, down close to 1%, while the 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.978%.
