Elon Musk has given roughly $276 million to the Republican Party ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, making him by far the largest known Republican donor of the current campaign, the New York Times and CNN reported, citing a spokesperson for Musk.

About $158 million of the money donated since July 2026 went to the Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican super political action committee that can take unlimited contributions and spend on behalf of specific candidates or causes. More than $76 million went to America PAC, which Musk founded.

Musk gave more than $250 million to Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign and began Trump's second term as a close adviser, leading an effort to cut federal spending through the Department of Government Efficiency. The resulting protests affected business at Tesla, the electric carmaker Musk runs. The two men fell out in mid-2025 over a tax bill and later reconciled, though their relationship stayed distant.

All House seats and about a third of the Senate are on the ballot; Republicans currently hold majorities in both chambers.
