Berkshire Hathaway is putting a further $330 million into Bending Spoons, the Milan-based owner of AOL, Evernote and Vimeo, lifting its holding to 4%, the technology group said on Oct. 14, according to Billionaires.Africa.
Under the private placement, Bending Spoons will issue 10 million new ordinary shares at $33 apiece, subject to customary closing conditions, with further detail to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchase follows the $600 million Berkshire committed at the company's July initial public offering, taking its total outlay to roughly $930 million and making it the sixth-largest shareholder, Reuters reported, citing LSEG data.
Shares traded on the Nasdaq under BSP rose 48.8% to $56.33 on Oct. 14 from a close of $37.86 the previous day, Benzinga reported, leaving Berkshire's purchase price about 13% below the prior close.
The stake was bought under Greg Abel, who became Berkshire's chief executive at the start of 2026; Warren Buffett, 96, is chairman.
Bending Spoons buys established apps and reworks them, and has acquired more than 50 businesses, including AOL for $1.45 billion in 2025. Its July listing raised $1.7 billion at an $18.4 billion valuation.
