El Car Wash said on October 15, 2026, that it had bought four Sparkle Express Car Wash locations in the Chicago area, its first operations in the city, according to a company announcement distributed by PR Newswire.

The Miami-based chain said the purchase gives it an immediate base in the Chicago metropolitan area and is the start of a plan to reach 50 sites across the region through new construction and further acquisitions. It said it has already obtained entitlements for sites in several suburbs, including Lyons, Lake in the Hills and Downers Grove.

The acquired sites will be renovated and eventually renamed under the El Car Wash brand, the company said.

Geoff Karas, chief executive and co-founder, said the company had worked toward a Chicago strategy for years and expects the deal to lead to additional store openings and deals in the market.

El Car Wash said it operates eight sites in metropolitan Detroit, with 10 more openings scheduled by October 2027. The company said it has 110 locations and close to 600,000 members across the Southeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.
